How do I book an MOT?

Why do I need an MOT?
The MOT scheme is primarily a road safety measure designed to ensure as far as possible that all cars more than 3 years old
- are properly maintained and;
- at least once a year are examined at an authorised MOT test station to make sure that they comply with certain important requirements of the law
How long does an MOT test take?
Approximately 45 minutes, but varies.
Can my car be tested earlier than the due date?
Yes, but only up to 28 days before the due date. Plus you will not lose any dates we will put 12 months on from the date of the test.
Do I need to stay with my vehicle?
No. However should you wish to you can sit in our comfortable waiting area.
I have lost my MOT certificate, can I get a duplicate copy?
Yes - The simplest way is to bring in your vehicle and tell us the approximate date of the test and we should be able to give you a duplicate certificate. The fee is £10.00.
What Happens if My Vehicle Fails the MOT Test?
Should the vehicle fail, you will be issued with a VT3O Certificate stating the items causing the failure of the MOT test. We can undertake to rectify any faults found and issue you with a FREE re-test. We will always agree a set price with our customers beforehand.
Remember - a car that does not have as current MOT Certificate is not allowed to be used on the road except when going for repairs for an MOT test, or to a prearranged MOT test.
Can I have a courtesy car whilst my car is at the garage?
Yes, we have a number of courtesy cars available; please ask for availability when you book.
Do I need to book in my vehicle if I have a problem?
It is necessary to book for MOTs and Servicing but if you have an immediate problem with your vehicle please call us and we will try and help the same day.
What sort of guarantees do you give?
We are a Unipart Car Care Centre and form a network of over 1,300 independent garages nationwide. All mechanical repairs, unless stated differently on the invoice, are guaranteed for a minimum of 12 months or 12000 miles which is honoured at all UCCC's nationwide.
On request all replaced parts are available for inspection at the time of collection.
Are you registered with any other trade bodies?
Yes we are members of the: Good Garage Scheme, Motor industry code of practice and Automotive Technician Accreditation
Can I bring my new car to you for servicing and repairs or am I bound to the main dealer until the warranty expires?
Servicing restrictions were lifted in May 2004 by the Office of Fair Trading. By law, any repair carried out by trained personnel, using equipment fit for the task and following the manufacturer’s recommended repair procedures, cannot affect the warranty of the vehicle.
In a nutshell, you are free to take your car to an independent garage for its servicing and repairs provided these are carried out in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Does your fixed price servicing include all necessary parts, labour & VAT?
Yes we have nothing to hide. You pay for what you see. Nothing more, unless you authorise us to carry out any extra work outside the servicing schedule.
