Five Star Autocentre in Huddersfield is continually regulated and licensed by the Department and Transport and VOSA. This ensures that our individual testers carrying out the inspections have the expertise in looking after your vehicle. Guidelines issued by the VOSA allow the tester to either pass or fail the vehicle.
The MOT test covers suspension, lighting, steering, emissions and road safety in passenger transport. The individual tests include the body and vehicle structure, registration plates, tow bar, boot and tailgate, bonnet, lights, wheels, tyres, fuel system, exhaust Co2 emissions, exhaust system, suspension, steering, horn, brakes, seats, mirrors, doors, seatbelts, wipers and washers and windscreen. Areas not tested include features such as the engine mountings, car battery, gear box and clutch house, as the failure of these components would not represent a safety risk.
The Ministry of Transport test (usually abbreviated to MOT test) is an annual test for all over three years old in the United Kingdom if they are used on public roads. The test is to identify the roadworthiness and safety of the vehicle.
As required by law we are proud to display a "VT9A Fees and Appeals" poster on our Huddersfield premises for public viewing. It gives information on all test types and information on what to do if a vehicle fails its MOT test.
Drivers should be aware it is illegal to drive a non-exempt vehicle that requires a test on public roads without a current MOT, except when driving to or from a pre-booked MOT Test.
If your vehicle fails its MOT test Five Star Autocentre in Huddersfield can carry out repairs to industry safety standards. We always use new genuine OEM parts and provide a 12 months/12,000 mile warranty on all parts and labour, honoured at all 1300 Unipart car care centres nationwide. However, you are allowed to take your car to your own choice of garage, should you wish. If the repairs are undertaken by us then there is no retest fee charged. If the vehicle is taken elsewhere for repairs and provided it is bought back to us within 10 working days of the original test then a small fee of £20.00 will be charged to cover the costs for the retest. If the period is outside of 10 days then the vehicle would require a new MOT test at the full price.
We always like to provide a great service to all our customers which is why over 80% of our business comes to us by word of mouth. Please take the trouble to view independent customer feedback left on the Good Garage Scheme website and Freeindex:
